I See the Person, Not the Future

Almost every catastrophe in the Mahabharat runs through somebody being treated as their category. Karna is a charioteer's son before he is anything else; Ekalavya is refused for his birth and gives his thumb anyway; Vidura's counsel is discounted for his mother's status rather than answered on its merits.

Krishna is drawn as the consistent exception. He deals with Karna, Vidura, Draupadi and Duryodhana each as themselves, and the epic makes a point of the ones he treats well whom nobody else does.
