The Conclusion - Separateness Is the Root of Adharma

The Mahabharat's own summary of itself is famously immodest: what is here may be found elsewhere, what is not here is found nowhere. It presents itself not as a story about a war but as a complete account of how people behave under pressure.

What survives the ending is not the outcome of the battle but the counsel given before it — which is why the Gita, seven hundred verses in the middle of a vast epic, is the part the world kept.
