The Conclusion - Separateness Is the Root of Adharma

This war of the Mahabharata, this tale of the Mahabharata, establishes many truths. The greatest truth is this: that separateness and hatred are the very root of unrighteousness (Adharma), and oneness — oneness (ekatmata) alone is the foundation of Dharma. How so? Reflect for yourself. A person's heart is forever encircled by hopes of happiness, by cravings for power and wealth — for he knows that the basis of his happiness is his family, that the cause of his happiness is his family. Because he does not regard society as the cause of his happiness; he regards it only as the means to his happiness. The difference is just that — of cause and of means, is it not? But when a person comes to realize that the whole world is itself the form of the Supreme Self, that every living being is a fragment of the Supreme Self — that is, that no one is a stranger, that all are his own, that this whole world is his own, his own family — then no cause for anger remains at all. All conflict, all enmity, all vengeance is destroyed. The Supreme Self within, and oneness with the world without — this is the root principle of Dharma. The journey of the Mahabharata is a journey from anger (krodha) to awakening (bodha), from hatred to oneness. As long as the people who dwell upon this land keep this tale of the Mahabharata alive in their memory, such a catastrophe will never come to pass again; no power will be able to strip away its greatness. To those who have journeyed with me upon this path, I offer my salutation. May the seed of Dharma be planted in their hearts, and may the flowers of Dharma bloom there. May the world be blessed. Om saha navavatu — may God protect us all. Saha nau bhunaktu — may we enjoy happiness together. Saha viryam karavavahai — may we strive for one another's good. Tejasvi navadhitam astu — may our lives be filled with radiance. Ma vidvishavahai — may there be no hatred or envy between us. Om shanti, shanti.

महाभारत का ये युद्ध, महाभारत की ये कथा, अनेक सत्यों को प्रस्थापित करती है। महानतम सत्य ये है, कि अलगपन और घिन्नता ही अधर्म का मूल है। और एकात्मता, एकात्मता ही धर्म का आधार है। कैसे, स्वयं विचार कीजिए, मनुष्य का हृदय, तुख की आशाओं से, तत्ता और संपत्ती की एकशाओं से घिरा रहता है सदा। क्योंकि वो ये जानता है, कि उसके सुख का आधार है, उसका परिवार, उसके सुख का कारण है, उसका परिवार। क्योंकि वो समाज को अपने सुख का कारण नहीं मानता, वो समाज को अपने सुख का स्थाधन मानता है। भेद है तो कारण और स्थाधन नहीं। किन्तु मनुष्य को जब ये बोध हो जाता है कि सारा संसार परमात्मा का ही रूप है, प्रतेक जीव परमात्मा का ही अन्श है, अर्थात कोई पराया नहीं, सब अपने, ये सारा संसार अपना ही है। अपना ही परिवार तो प्रोध का कोई कारण ही नहीं रह जाता। सारे संघर्ष, सारा वैर, सारा प्रतिशोद नष्ट हो जाता है। अंतर में परमात्मा और संसार में एकात्मता यही धर्म का मूल सिद्धान है। महाभारत की यात्रा त्रोध से बोध की यात्रा है। इन्नता से एकात्मता की यात्रा है। इस भूमी परवास करने वाली प्रजा जब तक इस महाभारत की कथा को अपने स्मरणों में जीवित रखेगी, तब तक ऐसा विफ़न पुना नहीं होगा। कोई भी शक्ति इसकी महत्ता का वस्त्र हरन नहीं कर पाएगी। इस यात्रा में मेरे साथ प्रवास करने वालों को मैं अभिलंदन देता। उनके हरदे में धर्म का वीज थापित हुआ। वहाँ धर्म के फूल खिलें। तनसार का कल्यान। ओम सहनावतु। ईश्वर हमारा रक्षन करें। तहनो भुनक्तु। हम सब मिलकर सुख भुगें। तह वीरयम करवावहें। एक दूसरे के लाभ हेतु प्रयास करें। तेजस्विनाव धित्मस्तु। हम सबका जीवन तेज से भर जाएं। मावे द्विशावहें। परस पर कोई द्वेश या इर्शा ना। ओम शान्ति। शान्ति।
